The solution is tmux. It's a terminal multiplexer that keeps the session on the server even if you disconnect. You reconnect and continue from where you left off. Everything is in place, nothing is interrupted.
Tmux also offers convenient hotkeys for managing windows and panes. You can keep multiple terminals in one session and quickly switch between them.
