I saw punch cards in real life.

I saw punch cards in real life.

Not in a museum. On the street. In childhood we found them on the street!

Back then I didn't know they were data carriers. Just trash from a computing center.

Then I got my first computer BK0010-01. Programs - from cassette. A minute of loading, interference, "read error". Rewind, try again. Patience was trained automatically.

ES1841. 5.25" floppies. If you placed it awkwardly on the table - that's it, goodbye.

286 - already a feeling of the future. Turbo button, which everyone pressed without understanding why.

Then FidoNet (there was such a worldwide network before the internet!). In the photo, me, about 30 years ago - node 2:463/136 (Niravana BBS). At night I launched the station, the modem screamed in the silence, packets crawled through intercity lines. In the morning - letters from people around the world.

Sometimes it seems like we've lived through several technological eras in one lifetime.

From holes in cardboard to artificial intelligence that thinks with us.

And the strangest thing - we perceive it as if it should be this way.
But if you stop for a second - it's almost science fiction that became reality.

Do you remember your first tech?
What was your first computer... or generally the first device that connected to the network?

I want to collect a little IT history from memories.
